Fat transfer breast augmentation, or autologous fat transfer or fat grafting, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of breasts by harvesting and transferring the patient’s body fat to the breasts. This advanced approach delivers a more natural alternative to saline or silicone breast implants, with long-lasting, soft results.

During the procedure, fat is harvested with gentle liposuction from other parts of the patient’s body with excess fat, such as the abdomen, thighs, or hips. The extracted fat is purified and processed to isolate the healthy fat cells. The fat cells are injected into the breasts to add soft, natural volume. This procedure has the added benefit of slimming the donor area.

What to expect during your fat transfer breast augmentation?

The procedure begins with liposuction, where fat is harvested from the chosen part of your body. This fat is then processed and purified to separate the healthy fat cells. These cells are then carefully injected into specific areas of the breasts to achieve the desired size and shape.

The operation is performed under general anesthesia or sedation and typically takes one to two hours, depending on the extent of liposuction and fat transfer required. You will be able to go home on the same day, but someone will need to drive you and ideally stay with you for at least 24 hours post-surgery.

What Is the recovery for fat transfer breast augmentation?

Recovery times can vary depending on the individual and the extent of the procedure, but generally, patients can return to work within one to two weeks. Swelling, bruising, and soreness are common after surgery but should subside within a few weeks. A compression garment can help reduce swelling and support the breasts during healing.

Physical activity should be limited for at least a few weeks, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for about six weeks. Follow-ups will be scheduled, and we will be monitoring your progress to ensure that you’re healing properly.
