Blog Series on BOTOX®: The ten things you’ve been wanting to know.
Number 6/10:
Q: Will anyone be able to see that I have had BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments?
A: With any injection, there is a risk of bruising at the injection site, which is not common with BOTOX®, but always a possibility since needles are involved. If feasible and not medically necessary, consider stopping any medications that thin the blood for 3-5 days prior to your treatment to minimize bruising. Some of these medications include aspirin, ibuprofen, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and St. John’s Wort.
If bruising does occur, you may apply cover up make-up over the injection site shortly after the injection. Also, one may have a slight redness and swelling at the injection site, which will quickly disappear following the treatment.
In an effort to help prevent bruising, we do provide a cool compress prior to, during, and after your treatment. To minimize swelling or bruising, continue to apply a cool compress or ice pack on and off after the treatment. Please contact our office if you have any specific medication questions prior to your procedure.
