A: The first few weeks your skin will be tight from the swelling, and your skin will have bruising. As the swelling decreases, your skin will begin to retract and tighten. The amount of skin recoil that occurs is directly related to your skin quality (elasticity), age, and genetics. During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will establish realistic expectations based on your physical exam and medical history.
