Hi my name is Lauren Lynch and I’m a Physician’s Assistant here at Florida Plastic Surgery Group. Today I’m going to talk with you about your exchange of tissue expander to implant with the addition of fat grafting. When you wake up from surgery, you’re going to wake up in a front closing sports bra I want you to wear it 24/7 even when you’re sleeping. You can take it off to 24 hours after surgery. When you do, just let the water hit your back and run forward over all of your incisions no direct pressure and no heavy scrubbing. You can reach up like you’re going to wash your hair but I don’t want the angle of your arm to come up past this. No extreme reaching and no lifting greater than 10 pounds as always with any surgery. Remember not to smoke as this can decrease or delay your healing. Look for things such as swelling, redness, heat in your leg or upper extremities, any shortness of breath and increased heart rate please call our office immediately if any of these do occur. If one breast becomes red and swollen and the other one does not, please call our office immediately. During your surgery you will have fat grafted from another area of your body, you will be wearing an abdominal binder if it is grafted from your abdomen. If you have it taken from an extremity you will have a compressive garment over the area. Please just like the bra wear that compression garment 24/7 even when you’re sleeping, you can take it off to shower. Make sure you wear those garments until your first post-op visit. Directly over your incisions you will have little band-aids called steri-strips these are naturally less adhesive than a band-aid. While you’re in surgery we put something on under those steri-strips to help get you to that first post-op visit. The steri-strips can get wet in the shower but let the water hit your back and run forward over all of your incisions, no direct pressure or heavy scrubbing. We will remove them in office at your first post-op visit, if they fall off it’s okay some people can’t even have them because of an adhesive allergy. If they fall off, you can still do warm soapy water and pat dry.
