Q: Can I get Botox AND dermal fillers (ex: Juvederm Ultra Plus® XC) injections during the same appointment?
A: Botox is a neuromodulator that is injected to reduce specific facial muscle movements (muscle paralytic), thereby minimizing the wrinkles that form with certain facial expressions. Most often Botox is injected around the eyes to treat the “crows feet” or smile lines around the eyes, horizontal forehead lines that occur when we raise our eyebrows, and our “11 lines” between our brows that happen when we scowl or frown. Facial dermal fillers, such as Juvederm Ultra Plus® XC, is used to treat static wrinkles that are visually present when our face is at rest, to restore lost volume. Most often dermal fillers are injected into the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, fine lines around the mouth, and the lips to add volume. Since Botox is commonly injected into different areas than dermal fillers, such as Juvederm Ultra Plus® XC, both products can be administered at the same appointment. Addressing both dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles that form with facial expressions) and static wrinkles (wrinkles that are present at rest) will enhance your overall facial rejuvenation.
